Rich, sweet Medjool dates combine with creamy peanut butter in this family-friendly sweet apple dip. Because dates bring a natural taste of caramel, this sweet treat offers a healthier alternative to store-bought caramel apple dip. Serve with fresh sliced apples or apple chips.
How To Make This Recipe
We start by soaking our dates in hot water. To do so, we place them into the jug of a high-speed blender along with hot water. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, a standard food processor will also work well here.
After 15 minutes or so, our dates will be soft enough for blending. At this point, we’re ready to move to our next step.
Once our dates soften, we add peanut butter, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and cinnamon to the jug. We blend our date mixture for 2 minutes on high speed or until smooth. Oftentimes, we find that the final blend is still a bit too thick for dipping. So, we add additional water as needed, one tablespoon at a time and blend, until the dip reaches our perfect thickness for dipping.
We like to serve our sweet apple dip immediately with fresh apple slices or apple chips. This dip also makes a lovely spread for whole grain toast. Leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for several days in an airtight container.
